Doc. Jiří Pašta, MD, CSc., FEBO graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Králové and has been working at the Eye Clinic of the University Hospital of the Czech Republic (ÚVN Prague) since 1980, where he served for many years as the head of the Eye Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and ÚVN Prague. Since January 1, 2013, he has been the professional guarantor of the Eye Centre Prague, a.s.

Doc. Jiří Pašta, MD, CSc., FEBO, has an extensive lecturing and publishing activity. He is a member of the board of the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery, as well as the American and European societies of refractive and cataract surgery, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of ČOS, ČSRKCH, ČGS, and ČVRS. Since 1994, he has served as the chief expert in ophthalmology for the Army of the Czech Republic, and he works as a registered consultant with the GMC in the United Kingdom. Since 2005, he has been an international instructor of laser surgery for AMO/VISX. Doc. Jiří Pašta, MD, CSc, FEBO, is a member of the accreditation commission of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic for the field of ophthalmology, a member of the examination commission for ophthalmology, and a member of the field council for the doctoral study program in ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Hradec Králové. With over 30,000 cataract surgeries performed, he ranks among the leading surgeons in the Czech Republic and is also involved in refractive and laser surgery. In 2012, he received the highest award from the ČSRKCH – the Professor Vanýsek Medal for his contributions to the development of implantology in ophthalmology in the Czech Republic. Other awards he has received include the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st degree medals of the Army of the Czech Republic, the 3rd and 2nd degree commemorative medals of ÚVN Prague, and in 1994, Doc. Jiří Pašta, MD, CSc., FEBO, became an honorary member of the Canadian Implantology and Keratorefractive Association.

Doc. Jiří Pašta, MD, CSc., FEBO, is the author of 92 professional and educational works and a co-author of several monographs. He is also a co-author of the development and production of the world's first combined pico and nanosecond laser at Oftalas FJFI, and he collaborated with Prof. Wichterle on research and development of full optics IOL. He was one of the researchers in the Czech-Japanese project Advanced Waveguides for Laser Medicine Systems: CTU Prague - Tohoku University Sendai and a co-researcher on the grant Solid-State Lasers for Ophthalmology (CTU Prague – ÚVN Prague).
