Chief Doctor of the Clinic

Radan Zugar, MD graduated from the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. In January 2011, he joined the Eye Centre Prague as a specialist physician, and in September of the same year, he was appointed as the head physician. He has held the position of head physician at the Eye Centre Prague to this day.

You can currently meet Dr. Zugar primarily in the operating room. He specializes in cataract surgery and performs over 2,500 cataract operations annually. To date, he has completed more than 25,000 successful cataract surgeries and ranks among the eye surgeons with the highest number of surgeries performed in the Czech Republic. He is also involved in retinal treatment, administering anti-VEGF agents and leading a glaucoma clinic.

In 2017, he was appointed by the Ministry of Health as a member of the Accreditation Commission and the Examination Commission for the specialty training field of ophthalmology.

He participates annually in professional ophthalmology congresses, where he regularly presents lectures. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 professional contributions in the Czech Republic and one abroad. He is the chairman of the Kolín branch of the Czech Medical Chamber and a member of various professional societies, including the Czech Ophthalmological Society, the Czech Glaucoma Society, the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

In his free time, Dr. Zugar enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and traveling.
