A truly wonderful thank-you message was sent via email by Mrs. Ivana Popvá directly to our director, Adam Janek. The message came from her entire family, expressing their gratitude for the surgery performed on her father, which literally changed his life. Here is the full thank-you message:

Dear Director,

I am writing to you during this pre-Christmas season because I want to express my gratitude for an early Christmas gift for our entire family.

My father, born in 1937, was a vital senior until this spring, with only some vision difficulties. Then he fell, injured his face, and due to a spinal cord injury, he irreversibly lost the ability to move the lower half of his body. He came to terms with it, saying that he hardly went anywhere anymore… But his vision deteriorated to the point where he could barely see anything up close. Confined to bed and dependent on caregivers, he was unable to read—a lifelong daily habit. He began to decline, losing energy and motivation.

On Tuesday, I witnessed a small miracle at your eye centre. Due to my father’s injury and my own experiences, I am familiar with many healthcare facilities. What I experienced at your clinic is truly unique. The approach to an 87-year-old grandfather in a wheelchair was exceptional—empathetic, kind, supportive, and reassuring. Absolute professionalism, excellent organization, and a well-structured process. Everything happened so quickly that I barely registered how fast both eyes were operated on. Nothing was a problem, and it was as if the wheelchair didn’t even exist.

The surgical performance of Chief Doctor Zugar was a once-in-a-lifetime experience—his precision, confidence, and, above all, his compassionate approach. He continuously reassured my elderly father, kept him informed about everything that was happening, and praised him for how well he was doing.

On the way home, my father was already reading license plates on cars he couldn’t see before. By the evening, he was reading aloud from the newspaper. Today, he is reading the fine print on medicine leaflets. His mood and energy have completely transformed—he is a different person. Just like before his injury—full of life. Now, each new day is no longer just something to endure but something to look forward to.

I would like to thank you for the successful surgery, the fantastic care, and for bringing our father back to life. Because he can see, he finds joy again—and so do we.
