School of Eye Surgery: Practical Training at the Alcon Centre

At Oční centrum Praha, we place great emphasis on continuous education and the expansion of professional skills. That is why we organized the School of Eye Surgery for our outpatient doctors at Alcon’s unique training centre in Prague. This specialized event focused on practical training in microsurgical skills under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Expert Supervision and First Surgical Experience

During the course, our doctors had a unique opportunity to experience what it is like to sit at a microscope and perform cataract surgery. A total of five of our outpatient doctors: Adriana Balestreri,MD, Veronika Hoppeová, MD, Denisa Maděrková, MD, Milan Vojta, MD, and Ondřej Bareš, MD, who usually focus on preoperative and postoperative patient care, tried their hand at surgery for the first time.

The entire training was conducted under the expert supervision of our experienced surgeons: Head Physician Radan Zugar, MD and Andrea Janeková, MD, FEBO, FEBOS-CR. Thanks to their valuable advice and feedback, the participants acquired new skills that will help them better understand the surgical procedure and its impact on patients. Moreover, all participants showed great skill and thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on training.

The School of Eye Surgery for outpatient doctors followed last year’s training for our nurses and optometrists. This year, we focused on physician education, helping them connect their medical knowledge with surgical practice.

Organizing the Cataract Surgery School for our nurses and optometrists is just one of many educational programs for our specialists. Education has been a long-term focus at Oční centrum Praha.

• We have established our own educational academy and offer graduate programs for young doctors.
• In 2023, we received the highest level of accreditation from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, allowing us to conduct specialized ophthalmology training and offer professional internships.
• Our doctors and nurses regularly attend prestigious conferences both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
