Life without glasses is great
Big congratulations go to our two doctors, Dr. Lucie Frantlová and Dr. Michaela Ratajová, for successfully passing the certification exam in ophthalmology. They are the first female doctors to be accepted into our graduate program and OCP Academy for the education of young doctors.
Dr. Lucie Frantlová currently serves at OCP as the head physician of the outpatient department and the MediPort network. She oversees the outpatient part within OCP and manages operations in our MediPort eye clinics that provide primary ophthalmological care. Dr. Frantlová specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the retina, as well as the treatment of keratoconus, comprehensive eye care, and performs minor surgical procedures and eyelid plastic surgeries.
Dr. Michaela Ratajová primarily works in our MediPort Holešovice clinic, where she focuses primarily on pediatric ophthalmology and the treatment of children's eye disorders. Within OCP, she is involved in comprehensive eye care and participates in international clinical studies related to the development of intraocular implants.
The whole team congratulated them on their success, including Dr. Radan Zugar and Dr. Andrea Janeková. We are extremely proud of both of them and wish them many more successes in their careers.
At Eye Centre Prague, we have been preparing for the provision of accessible care in the future for a long time, which is why we launched a graduate program in 2017, where we fill two graduate positions each year. We have also created our own academy for young doctors, which trains them both practically and theoretically. This allows us to focus on the continuous education of young doctors.
"As part of the educational academy, we organize a range of educational activities once or twice a month for physicians who have not yet completed their certification. These seminars are unofficial and not necessary for obtaining certification, but they are important for preparing for the core exam and certification," explains Dr. Andrea Janeková, who is jointly responsible for the education of doctors at Eye Centre Prague, adding: "We focus primarily on practice, and each junior colleague is assigned a mentor. Within the academy, we also keep up with new developments in the field of ophthalmology, including regular reports on articles from foreign journals, and we delve deeper into the issues because new techniques and trends constantly emerge. An advantage of the academy is that it also strengthens the medical team, and young colleagues motivate each other."
At the beginning of 2023, Eye Centre Prague received the highest level of accreditation from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and became an accredited facility of type III for the field of ophthalmology. Based on this accreditation, Eye Centre Prague can currently conduct its own specialized training for the specialization in ophthalmology and also provides professional internships for other healthcare facilities, including regional and university hospitals. The type III accreditation was granted to Eye Centre Prague due to the complexity of the care provided, making it only the third private facility in the Czech Republic to achieve this.
