Cataract school for nurses

As part of our professional education, we organized a Cataract School for nurses and optometrists at OCP in collaboration with Alcon. The educational event took place at the Alcon training center in Prague.

Cataract school

The Cataract School was attended by our nurses working in the operating room, as well as our optometrists. The expert instructors for the cataract school were our surgeons—Chief Physician Dr. Radan Zugar and Dr. Andrea Janeková, FEBO, head physician of the cataract and refractive surgery center.

During this educational event, our nurses and optometrists not only underwent theoretical training but also focused on practical skills: they practiced assembling implants, underwent surgery using virtual reality, and then had the opportunity to perform surgery themselves under the supervision of expert instructors in the wet lab. In total, they performed nearly 50 surgeries! The participation in the Cataract School was genuinely beneficial for everyone, and both the participants and instructors thoroughly enjoyed the entire program.

Education at OCP

The organization of the cataract school for our nurses and optometrists is one of many educational programs for our professionals. At Eye Centre Prague, we have long focused on the area of education. We have created our own educational academy and also offer graduate programs for aspiring doctors. Last year, we obtained the highest level of accreditation from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, which now allows us to conduct our own specialized training for the field of ophthalmology and provide professional internships. Additionally, our experts, including both doctors and nurses, regularly participate in professional congresses in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Alcon Training Center

The new training center for the ophthalmological community in the Czech Republic and Central Europe was opened by Alcon in Prague last autumn. The training center is equipped with the latest equipment and technologies, enabling the delivery of education at the highest level. Within the wet lab ("wet laboratories"), future eye surgeons can practice and refine their surgical skills.
