Chief Doctor of the Clinic Zugar has performed 20,000 cataract surgeries!

At the very start of the year, we have a reason for a big celebration!

Our Chief Doctor of the Clinic Radan Zugar has reached the milestone of 20,000 cataract surgeries! We warmly congratulate him and wish him many more successful operations and satisfied patients!!!

Dr. Zugar has been with Eye Centre Prague since 2011, when he joined as a specialist doctor and was appointed Chief Doctor of the Clinic later that same year. He primarily focuses on cataract surgeries, having performed the aforementioned 20,000 successful operations. In addition to his surgical practice, he also provides outpatient care, specializing primarily in retinal treatment, administering anti-VEGF preparations, and leading the glaucoma clinic for the treatment of glaucoma.

He performed his first cataract surgery back in 1999. At that time, a different surgical method was still in use, known as extracapsular extraction of the lens, where the eye was opened with an incision of over 10 mm, and the lens was removed entirely along with the capsule. The eye then had to be sutured with about seven stitches. Since then, surgical methods and equipment have changed significantly. At Eye Centre Prague, we utilize the latest technologies that provide greater comfort for the surgeon and increased safety for the patient.

In 2017, he was appointed by the Ministry of Health as a member of the accreditation commission for the field of specialized education in ophthalmology.

We congratulate him once again and are very pleased that one of our excellent eye surgeons is Dr. Radan Zugar!
