Initial examination – PRELEX
Diagnostics and initial examination before PRELEX surgery
Have you decided to get rid of your glasses? Before the surgery, it is essential to undergo a comprehensive examination, based on which the doctor will assess the suitability of the procedure and recommend the best possible solution. A detailed eye examination ensures the best outcome.
The detailed initial examination usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes, is completely painless, and does not require any special preparation. During the examination, your eyes will be dilated, so you will not be able to drive afterward.
Please bring the following with you to the examination:
- ID card
- Glasses you currently wear
- A list of medications you are taking
Complete preoperative examination procedure
1. Medical history (Anamnesis)
The anamnesis is used to gather important information about your overall health and vision conditions, including any family history of eye disorders. This step helps the doctor understand any underlying factors that could influence the outcome of the surgery and determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your specific case.
2. Instrumental measurements
Special instruments will be used to measure your refractive errors, intraocular pressure, and, after your eyes are dilated, an examination of the back of the eye will be performed. As part of the examination, you will also undergo biometric testing, which will determine the parameters needed for calculating the new artificial intraocular lens that will be implanted during the surgery.
3. Consultation and examination by an ophthalmologist
The preoperative examination concludes with a consultation with an ophthalmologist, who will conduct further eye tests and explain the entire surgical procedure to you. The doctor will recommend the best solution for your specific case and suggest the most suitable type of intraocular lens for you.
Don’t hesitate to ask the doctor any questions during the preoperative examination and discuss all the available surgical options with them.
