Amsler grid
Test yourself with the amsler grid to check for AMD risk!
Below you will find the Amsler Grid, which you can use to regularly test your vision from the comfort of your home, ideally every day. It's easy, and within a minute you'll know if your vision is fine or if you should schedule an eye exam.
Testing procedure:
- if you wear reading glasses, put them on
- look at the grid from a distance of about 30–40 cm from your face
- cover your left eye and focus on the dot in the center
- carefully examine the grid; it should be fully visible, regular, with parallel lines
- repeat the same process with your right eye
If, during the test of either your right or left eye, you notice wavy or non-parallel lines, or if any part of the grid is missing, it is a reason to schedule an eye exam with an ophthalmologist for a possible diagnosis of AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration).
