A new life without glasses
During the four intensive days, participants underwent practical training across all areas of ophthalmic surgery – under the guidance of top European experts.
The Balkan Ophthalmic Wetlab (BOW) educational program is a unique, comprehensive workshop that covers both theory and practice across the entire field of ophthalmology (cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, laser refractive surgery, glaucoma surgery, keratoplasty, and oculoplastics).
The Wetlab course focuses on practical training for beginner eye surgeons. Under expert supervision, young doctors master the steps of surgeries, work with micro instruments, and develop surgical coordination – all in a safe and simulated environment, providing ideal preparation before entering a real operating room.
Eye Centre Prague had double representation at this prestigious educational event:
MUDr. Andrea Janeková, FEBO, FEBOS-CR, traditionally served as a faculty member and shared her experiences with novice surgeons in the cataract surgery course.
MUDr. Lucie Frantlová participated as a student and intensively trained in the vitrectomy course – a challenging procedure focused on vitreous and retinal surgery.
Education is one of our key pillars – whether we are training others or learning ourselves. We are proud to have been part of this significant international event.
